So, yeah, I nearly killed my sisters ferret the other day. Don't judge me though, we all make mistakes. Here's the story of what happened and how I'm great in a crisis!

My sister was over at her friend's house for a sleepover and the ferret was feeling lonely, so my Mom took him out to get some energy out before she went to bed. We were in the living room watching a movie, laughing at the ferret hopping around like a bunny, and trying to keep him out of trouble.(we failed)

"Mia, Keep an eye on the ferret,"

She said,

"Don't let him get behind the couch."

I'm ashamed to admit that her warnings went over my head. A commercial came on and I quickly sat up from the recliner to get some food.

"Mia! The Ferret!"

She screamed,

"Well,"

I calmly said,

"I think I just killed the ferret."

She jumps up and pulls the lever on the chair to see if he was under my seat and sure enough, he was sprawled out like a starfish with a "What just happened?" look on his face.

And that my friends, is when all hell broke loose.

My Mom starts screaming bloody murder while lifting the entire recliner up,

"Grab him, Mia! Grab him!"

I reach down and got him into my Mom's arms,

"Is he okay? Is he broken? Did I kill him? God Mia if I killed another animal I couldn't live with myself."

We used to have a tortoise, but that's a whole other blog post.

She sat him down on the ground and he fell limp.

"Mia, I can't do this, I really can't do this. I broke him!"

Not really knowing what was going on, my brother took his headphones out and asked my Mom why she was screaming. Her response was,

"Call your Dad, Tre! I think the ferrets back is broken!"

So my brother is on the phone with our Dad while our Mom is rocking back and forth on the couch holding the ferret, praying to God,

"Please, God! I can't deal with this, heal him! Just heal him!".

My Mom cant really handles stressful situations especially without my dad, and he just happened to be out of town that night for a business meeting in the morning.

So I was left to talk my Mom down from having a full-blown panic attack.

The conversation between my Dad and brother went something like this.

"Hey, Dad. So mom is freaking out *Insert hysterical crying in the background* she thinks the ferret's back is broken and she doesn't know what to do."

My Dad simply said,

"Call the Vet, What Am I gonna do?"

The nearest ferret vet is over an hour away from where we live so my Mom didn't want to drive all that way if it wasn't necessary.

Or at least that's what I got out of,

"AHHH! *Crying* NAHHH *Sobbing* I CAN'TAHH!"

In response to,

"Do you want to go to the vet?"

And I screamed back,

"JUST BE A MOM AND FIGURE IT OUT, SARAH!"

I felt really bad at the time for screaming at her but we laughed about it so much the day after this.

I got finally got my mom on the phone with the vet and took the ferret.

I set him down to see if he still couldn't move, but to my surprise, he cautiously sat up and walked a few steps before heading back to lay in my lap.

My Mom told the Vet everything and they said that we were in the clear!

The vet said he probably had little bruising, but if he woke up still not feeling well then we should head to the Vet.

I got back into my pajamas, my brother put his headphones back on, and my Mom kept saying sorry to the ferret.

I'm pretty proud of myself for staying so calm in all of that chaos, but it was probably because I thought my Mom was going to make be the adult in that situation.

The ferret is all good right now, though! Hopping around like a bunny and still trying to get behind the couch.
