The reason my cousin mentioned squirrels in my last blog post is because we had to rescue baby squirrels that evening! The three baby squirrels were found underneath the battery box of a pickup truck. We watched and waited to see if the mother would return, given the babies were no more than 3 weeks old.

After hours of waiting and researching, we moved the baby squirrels nest into a box along with a small blanket to keep them warm. We called a close friend who works at an animal rescue and rehabilitation wildlife center for information on how to properly feed them.

She gave us a recipe of 1 cup of warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and a quarter teaspoon of salt. A lot of people recommend feeding baby squirrels Gatorade but she strongly advised against it because the dye in the drink isn't good for them. The baby squirrels perked up soon after being fed the drink and became very attached to us!

The following morning we said our goodbyes and took the baby squirrels to the animal rescue rehabilitation wildlife center. I never experienced "rehabilitating " an animal and I'm glad my little cousin got to be apart of it. I hope you enjoyed this blog post!
