As I mentioned, my family is visiting from SD. I thought it would be fun to interview my six-year-old cousin on "Life Advice", here are her thoughts and or opinions.

"This book is about squirrels, right?" She asks me.

"No, Narin. This has nothing to do with squirrels." I knew it was going to be interesting from here on out.

1.Keep Nature Alive

"All animals live in nature, and squirrels live in trees. Don't chop down trees with birdhouses, or squirrels, or owlets."

2.Sharing Is Nicer

"Let's say I took the last piece of bacon, because I really love bacon, then you snatched it off my plate. I would tell your mom to ground you if you didn't want to share. Everyone knows snatching isn't nice."

3.If you're Family, You Have To Stay Together

"And Why Is Family So Important?" I asked.

"Because you live with them, and those are the people that you love."

4.Never Give Up

"If you want to win scooter-dodge-ball you don't give up. If you throw a ball at me and I said 'I'm just giving up, no one cares about me.' then I would be sad and tell myself 'You just have to try!' That's how you don't give up"

5.Don't Judge People By How They Look

"Don't be a bully because you don't know who they really are"

6.The Magic Word Is "Sorry"

"Don't ever say 'I hate you and never want to see you again' because words can't be taken back unless you say the magic word."

I recorded our little "interveiw" and wrote down all the answers. It's nice knowing this little girl has a good head on her shoulders. We often forget the simple rules in life like these. I hope you enjoyed a 20 minute recording chopped down to a 2 minute long post!
